Not-to-scale Citadel Replica

Post by Ace2910 » April 10th, 2012, 2:39 am

This'll hopefully be at the center of my new town, but I definitely need help with this one.

Image

So this will not be an easy task, first, a huge exploded-looking pit from surface to bedrock must be made, then the structure will be built from bedrock-up, all the way to the height limit. This is going to require CRAPLOADS of stone, as you can see.

Also, this is why it won't be to scale(The world's tallest building is to the right of the Citadel):
Image

So if anyone wants to help build this, it will GREATLY be appreciated. The interior may look similar-ish to Half-Life 2's Citadel(but safer), so not much stone will be used for the inside(empty space in a lot of places and all). Also the size that I want this at is subject to change.

The interior (don't know if I should even THINK of making it this thick inside.)

Just for the exterior, it will take approximately 55500 blocks of smoothstone... That equals around 867.2 stacks of smoothstone.

If we could pull this off, think of how much it could promote the server, we could do a video giving a tour of it.

95 furnaces, all running at once, and it still feels too slow:

Anyway, looks like this'll be a huge group project. If anyone else who didn't offer to contribute wants to contribute, just say so.

Can you do a break down of mats for the outside structure of the building?

Also, perhaps build a floor template to gauge how big you want/think it should be, just a 1 high floor blueprint if you will

The exterior of the building will be built with mostly stone. it is basically going to be in a triangle shape for a majority of it ( save for the panels, the weird rib-shaped thing in the middle) Each side of the triangle will be 72 blocks wide, and the structure itself will be about 240-245 blocks tall.

Those cable things will be built with either stone or glass, which ever looks better.

Pixiebitch can give more detail on how this is going to go down though...

[img]Here's something i have come up with....

Let me know what you think about this ;)

At this point of the tower, you would need approx. 83-83k stone just for the outlinings of the building.

Holy shit that looks awesome. Does that go from bedrock to sky? That would make void fog an interesting effect if used well (sunlight removes void fog, so you could make "dungeons" that don't allow any sunlight in and they would be pretty murky.)

The tower starts from y:5 to y:245 so the building is 240 high which leaves some space to create whatever on top of it.
When looking from down up, you can't even see the top of the tower and vice versa (render set to FAR). Viewing the creation with normal render distance creates a nice feel to it.

Here is a peek of the vast amount of space inside the building, NOTE that this isnt even half of how much space is inside!!
