MEGA LAG ISSUES

Post by harark1 » November 23rd, 2011, 5:00 pm

MEGA LAG ISSUES
:fffuuu:
I keep getting huge amounts of lag on this server, enough to cause me to be kicked repeatedly and not be able to join. I wondering if there is anyway you guys can fix it because I can't really play until it's fixed. Even ask Sooneey how many times I had to relog to try to get rid of lag, after it kicked me, he was on for most of it. And I'm sure it isn't my computer because I tried 2 different ones and I have great internet connection to everything else.

Please try to fix this. I want to play on Maxloader again.

I am sorry to hear this.
I am affraid i can't do anything about it, since everyone else is not having these issues.
Try running a speedtest on http://www.speedtest.net/ but before running it select a server inRotterdam in the Netherlands.
This is the closest speedtest server near me.

To do this, do not press begin test but first zoom all the way out using your mousewheel or the zoom bar on the left side of the map.
Now pan to the right to the netherlands (if not sure where it is check google maps first).

Now zoom in to the Netherlands and hover your mouse over one of the three dots until you see a rotterdam server, select it and begin test.
let me know what your results are.

The Rotterdam server:

Ping 135 ms
Download speed 6.49 Mbps
Upload speed 3.01 Mbps

Then when I tried the closest one to me for a comparison:

Ping 51 ms
Download speed 21.41 Mbps
Upload speed 3.54 Mbps

Not sure why it's so low, I should be getting way better with my router, but I hope it helps. :? Also this has only started happening in the past few days, not sure why such a dramatic change in reception to your server would occur in 3-4 days.

Its a quite normal ping for the distance and should offer normal playability with minimal lag...

You can also try /ping ingame and see how long the server takes it to send a pong! back.
If this is almost instant, there is no lag.

Well, getting one of these every 5-10 minutes while I'm on your server is not minimal lag.

I tried using /ping but the problem is that it runs with no lag for 5-10 minutes, then everything shuts down (I can type chat but it never appears, I can flip levers and press buttons but it has no effect, and I can't break blocks), then it kicks me. So I'm utterly confused.

it seems like your profile is corrupt, ill rename it.
then it will see you as a new player and makes a new one.

You first need to store your items somewhere and get an empty inventory (don't forget your armor)
meet me in the livechat (http://www.maxloader.nl/chat/) so we can work things out.

No wloll it doesn't. Well max it's working fine on the cabled laptop, and was working on my desktop until I died, couldn't respawn. I'll try it again later but it doesn't matter much right now, no one's on anyway.

It might be a region based error; I remember once Sooneey covered Wlollabs November in a giant cube of water, which caused everyone in the area to get kicked if they didn't leave. (This extended as far as a part of Metro November)

@Lumpy, no this is lag all over the server not one place in particular.

As I said to you in game you need to do a virus scan. If you don't have a virus scanner I can recommend a few.

Once you've done that run minecraft alone. Make sure you don't have tons of programs are online that use the internet.

However this lag is not the servers fault, everyone else is playing with little lag.

Good luck and we are here to help, so keep us updated :)

Ran my scan. Zero viruses detected. Hopefully it's fixed now. Heading on the server now to test it out.

Edit: Tested, everything went fine with no lag. Once I logged out though I was not able to log back in until I restarted minecraft, but that's no biggie. So I officially declare this problem fixed :D (Might want to leave the thread unlocked for a while in case it happens again though)

Re-Edit: Problem not fixed. :( Trying to log in again but can not connect. But it's getting late so I'm just gonna go to bed and fix it tomorrow. God, one problem after another.

Could connect again today. Then lagged out. I might just need to completely reinstall minecraft. Anyone able to send me all new UNMODDED everything?

No need to receive files from other people. Just delete .minecraft in your appdata and your Minecraft launcher, and then re-download the launcher from minecraft.net. It'll reinstall Minecraft on its own, like the first time you used it.

Back up files you want to keep, though (world saves or texture packs come to mind)

Then it will be updated to 1.00 not 1.81 like the server. That's why I need someone else's files.

Use MCNostalgia; you can find it easily on google or the official forums (www.minecraftforum.net)
