Automated (Redstone) Minecart Storage System
Soo hi everybody. Since i re-joined this server, i will use my time, to brag with my awsome redstone skills!.
No, but seriously, please read through this entire post if you are interested in a pretty cool storage system inside any mine.
So what ist this exactly?
I've build this thing in my Singleplayer World, and got it working just fine:
The Basic idea is this one: When you are mining, you usally go until your inventory is full (Or you run out of Pickaxes). You warp to your vault, and than maybe walk all the way back to the mine.
The system i built is basically this: a storage room with 3 ,4 or up to 6 Storage Carts will be built at the nearest warps. The tracks of this system lead down into the mine you wish it to be. At the very end of this track (or, if you wish, also at stations in the middle of it) you have a little Button , named the "Request Storage Button"
you press this button, you get an EMPTY Storage minecart down, you press the "Send cart back" Button, and... send the cart back to the storage. You can use multiple Minecarts. You will always get an empty one, if there are any available.
Wait, where exactly is the Benefit from this?
1.) It's incredibly cool
2.) It's just like you would make your Inventory 3 or 4 times larger, since you can store your Stuff in a Cart, then Warp to the Storage room and claim everything you mined from there.
3.) I admit this thing lacks of usefulness a bit. But i personally think it's a pretty cool thing if you are RPing, or just enjoy using Automated tracks.
Where will this be?
Well this question is still open, and i would like some of you to answer it. I would like to build it anywhere near a functioning warp, so mostly in a city, since your "Home" warp would be there (For free of course, altough Donations of Iron, Gold and Redstone are appreciated, because i will need a lot of it) . So all you owners and rulers of Cities, please Post here if you would like to have this system.
If, However, nobody is interested in this, i will just freeze my little project, and maybe build it inside a Personal Mine later.
Heres some information about it:
I built this system with 4 Storage carts in my Singleplayer, but as i said, it can be improved.
The whole Redstone circuitry takes up a lot of space , but since everything can just be made underground this shouldn't be to much of a problem.
IF you wish so, i could also work on a thief-saving system, this would take sometime but probably work.
You are going to do that on your own?
Will, if somebody is interested in complex Redstone Circuitry, he/she can always join me on this. Building this thing on ones own does take a huge amount of time anyway. Also, with one or to people by my side I could actually make some really big Storage facilities.
This sounds cool, but why building it into a mine?
Good Question! Glad you asked!
Because i built the original for a mine!
Essentially, i can use this system, with some slight changes in it, also do develop a public Storage system, like a Bank or something. I actually got some ideas on how to do a rather safe Bank storage. So if you like this idea more than the Mine thing, just tell me.
I am open to new ideas, if you have questions just ask me.

I would like to help you build. I can't think of anywhere where I could put one though. so I'll help you build someone else's

It's a cool idea. But is it necesarry and useful? You can also /warp (vault) and than do /back...

Re: Automated (Redstone) Minecart Storage System
I know botra has lockers in its mine, you should talk to Eddy or Gaz and see if they'd want the minecart storage added to their lockers.
Also I like the idea of the bank, but we all already have the option of getting a vault. What you could do though is a trading system with that. where people in different towns could go to the trainstation and put what they're trading into a cart and push a button for which town to go to, and it would send the cart with the stuff to that town, while at the same time a cart is coming from that town with what they're getting from the trade. I'm not sure if that's something you could do but it's just a suggestion. You could use the existing tracks from town to town if the admins approve, but then you'd have to figure out a way for the carts not to hit eachother on the way to their destination. On the plus side, if you do get it to work people could throw down a cart, hop in, and pick the city they want to go to with a button.

I've found one disadvantage to /warp and /back. I used it and ended up like this.Cor_ wrote:It's a cool idea. But is it necesarry and useful? You can also /warp (vault) and than do /back...

LOL thanks ^^
BTW i gotta freeze this idea for now, because i realized it doesn't really work with the Mods we are running on the server. They are interfering with powered Rails and this kinda ruins my whole system. To bad!
