I have a new idea, a bit out of the sever gameplay since we have to wait for Bukkit to update in order to play 1.4 Beta.

So it is simple really, make a custom map with an adventure!

Thats right, make your own adventure map of any kind! You can do whatever you want aslong as it is not impossible. You could make it a underwater kingdom needing to be exploered or a space ship crashed on earth and some mighty heroes must venture into it!

What ever the idea is MAKE IT! Since it is pretty tough challenge I will tell you the reward right away.

The reward for wining the competition will gain access to ALL future updates I am making of Yeenoos and all my diamonds I own. By access to all updates it means throughtout my building time you will be able to put your input on it and even create your own sections for the sever events!

Few rules about the adventure you are going to make.

1. You can set any rules you like about it eg: no break blocks.
2. It must be atleast 10 minutes long of gameplay.
3. It doesn't matter how you build it.
4. If a special texture pack is needed that is fine.

What happens if you are chosen? EddyT and I will play it though and record and use it for our upcoming commentaries! This means your map will be the first we ever upload on youtube with full credits going to you.*

This is quite a large competition and I don't know how long it should gone on for yet so I will not put an ending date, however to make sure we have some people working on it please leave a message saying so!

Hopefully we'll get a few people to make it!

wait, do we make it on a single player map or on a server? if it's on a server can we have real people pretend to be npc's like shadow of israphel?
also will your server have craftbook? or should we keep it simple?

I think it's on a SMP server, like Sooneey said, and it will have Bukkit, so we can spawn things and stuff. I hop they do add NPC's, because they would help with the story.

Unless they do what simon and lewis did and somehow convert the singleplayer adventure maps onto a server. then'd we'd be making it in single player like I've already gotten to work on
Edit: I was being stupid and deleted my save files so I'm back to square one I'm gonna write it all out before I build anything anyway.

Edit: nevermind. never underestimate someone with no life. I worked all day and I'm about a third of the way done. I believe now is an appropriate time to post teaser photos. though I'm hesitant because I don't want to show my competition just what they have to do to beat me.

ALSO! I need two people to play the parts of npc's in my adventure map when Eddy and Sooneey play it. please reply to this if you're willing to be an "npc" on an adventure map that might make it on youtube if it wins. I'll send you a skin and tell you what you'll need to do.

OK I think this should answer all your questions.

You will make it on singleplayer, recommend getting some client mods to spawn blocks.

Once you have finished I will put it on the server and you will have a whole day to tweak it to your needs and do whatever is neccesary.

Craftbook is not installed so do not do anything like [Bridge], if it wins aswell with the your permission I will upload it onto megaupload and put it on the description of youtube, that is 100% your choice however.

Npcs can be a problem due because of my connection speed to how much this server can take, Gaz Ed and I were online and I don't think we felt any lag mostly because there is no mods. I think it can hold about 6 people happily... I think.

I want to make one very badly, but i'm having trouble with winRAR so it is screwing with my minecraft. any suggestions? also, i recomend the mod ToManyItems.

I only plan on having three or four npc's which would bring it to a total of 6. we can cut back on npc's if it's lagging that'd be no big deal, just means less free stuff for you and eddy

When we're putting the final touches on our maps will we be able to use world edit/bukkit stuff? or should I not plan on flying around moving large chunks around?

I can't help with winrar but I can send you a link to the mod and instructions on how to install it scope. I want some competition so I didn't go overkill for nothing.

to install:
1. search for %appdata% or navigate to users/appdata/roaming
2. copy your .minecraft folder to your desktop or somewhere safe (that way if you mess up your game you replace the .minecraft folder with the copy and everything's back to normal.)
3. open minecraft.jar (inside the bin folder inside the .minecraft folder) with winrar or some variety (I use 7-zip cause it acually works for me)
4.open the mod zip with the same program you opened the .jar file with
5. copy everything from the mod zip into the .jar file and delete the META-INF folder inside the .jar
6. close the folders and start the game to make sure it works

or if you do better with video I'm sure you can find instructions on youtube.

Yes, TooManyItems is pretty good to get stuff easily. Use th=at and SP commands, and you should be good.

k sooneey mine's about ready I just need to tweak a few things and get a couple more npc actors.

scope and blacknight would either of you be interested in being npcs on my adventure map?
Also I'd really like for some people to test it and tell me what they think about it. and when it gets put up on sooneey's server I could use some help making the puzzles better if anyone's interested in helping with that...

Sadly Bukkit is at the bare minnuim at the moment I will talk to maxloader about mods etc for building purposes but no promises I can't have anything that lags the server down too much.
Also today Eddy and I spent pretty much all day setting up our recording and uploading things, it took forever and if you haven't used FRAPS before well 10 minutes of gameplay takes up 16gb of harddrive. Yeah it's weird so i've had to spend all day compressing it! So that was the main obstacle we had to overcome and now its looking good.
So hopefully we will be posting HD minecraft gameplay soon!

That's ok I can do the copy paste on single player. I'm happy to say it's ready as soon as the copy paste is done. however I do have one more question.
The adventure maps Simon and Lewis do tend to have diamonds hidden all around that seem to have no purpose except to count as points. so far I don't have many hidden areas and those I do have give you usefull things. should I throw in a bunch of hidden diamonds for points or is it good without?

Woah that is fast! Although did you make the map in 1.4 version or 1.3 version, don't know if it makes a huge difference but just curious.

Diamonds and gold bars is up to you but it is not needed.

The map is in Beta 1.4. and while it is finished I am having a couple people test it to find any mistakes so you and eddy don't encounter them while recording. As soon as my testers get back to me with their notes and I correct what they think needs correcting we're ready to go.

sure but it's 1.4 is that ok? the only mod I have for it is SP commands but that was enough for me especially cause it has world edit. PM me an email address or something and I'll send you the file.

No it is alright, i just re-installed Winrar, and it seems to work. my TMI is working now.

your call man. if you only touch the .minecraft folder and you make a backup copy first I don't see what could go wrong. it's not like there's a virus in there I would've found out by now.

or download a server off minecraft.net and become local host. You can then use "help" in the minecraft server to see what the commands are and edit lots of things. Like time and inventory!
