Ultra Hardcore Event

So there's the whole UHC bandwagon going on in Mindcrack on SMP and I thought it might be cool if we had a Maxloader UHC PvP event as well. I am willing to host the server; it would probably be best if we did it sometime over the weekend, and should take around 3 hours maximum unless someone decides to turtle.
For those who don't know, Ultra Hardcore basically means that you can only regenerate hearts using golden apples or health potions. Additionally, glistering melons take a gold block to craft and golden apples take 8 gold ingots. Regeneration potions are not obtainable since ghast tears are no longer dropped. It's also hardcore, so if you die, you must leave the server (and if you don't, I'll ban you until it's over lol)
EDIT: This will start at 8:00 p.m. server time, or 2:00 p.m. EST or 7:00 p.m. GMT (i.e. 20:00; in EST, it would be 14:00 and in GMT it would be 19:00). The IP is 67.246.91.27:1337.

It means slow, as in, you're quite slow at figuring this out.

No, turtling is an RTS term which refers to hiding in your base and waiting for the enemy to attack you, rather than going on the offense. Usually a turtler will just keep building up resources until he can OMGWTFBBQ the enemy. Of course, that is if he isn't killed before that... lol. Turtling is often seen as noobish, although it's definitely a possible tactic.
It doesn't normally work well in RTS (due to rushes or artillery); in UHC it's a different story, but it's also much more boring.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that turtling is discouraged by rules, usually; in Mindcrack Hardcore, they made a rule where branch mining for ores is not allowed (you can mine for caves and grab ores that you find, but no level 12 methodological mines that are searching for diamonds/gold/iron)

I'd join in, if you do this.

I was thinking that we should run it at NAEST 2 pm on Saturday 21, although that may be subject to change. Although it'll probably be super informal go-on-maxloader-and-tell-everyone-to-come instead.
EDIT: I might just go with the second idea instead, and just recruit random people who are online.

Ok, I might just run it randomly, since I have had a lot of time conflicts after talking with various people. Most likely I will do one on Friday at 2:30 EST, and one on Sunday as well at around 2:00 EST although it might be earlier, and there might not even be one on Sunday. Basically, it's going to be very informal so don't expect all that much.
Also everyone is going to need a jar with the client-side version of Ultra Hardcore, since it requires both a client mod and server mod.

Sorry about all the indecision, but the FINALIZED time is going to be Saturday, April 20th at 2:00 p.m. EST (or 7:00 p.m. GMT). If everyone is ready, we may start earlier!

Might be easier of you convert it to server time too.

In server time, it would start at 8:00 p.m. (this is 20:00; in EST, it would be 14:00 and in GMT it would be 19:00)

Congratulations to Trubbycool for winning the first Ultra Hardcore PvP game! Since some players were unable to come earlier, I may host another one in the future!

One thing I have to say: The date was a great plan.

"Ultra Hardcore Event" is not hardcore...
Here is MY Ultra Hardcore Event idea:
Server: death=instant ban.
THE END.
This would require a mod that I assume would be rather easy to create.
A server where you only get ONE live to live. Use it wisely. There are no other rules, there would be a small area of the default spawn that is unbuildable to all, but the server is open to anyone with a registered account. I bet proper promotion would make this a short hit all across the minecraft community (at least by it's 2nd or 3rd installment) as players band together to try to actualy survive in such a brutal environment. Administration would not be required as Griefing is technicly fair game. Societies would need to carefully monitor their borders should they manage to form. Such a server, with proper promotion, would surely attract the most prestigous players minecraft has and explode into popularity as they document their short lives and form plans to survive longer in future iterations of the server.
Either that, or this has already been done... I dont know. It doesnt SEEM like a hard idea to think up.

This event WAS hardcore. Not only do you not regenerate, but you were also SUPPOSED to leave the server after dieing. If I noticed you didn't, I would kick/ban you afterwards.
Also deathban is a pretty common server idea. Although griefers like AVO tend to hit them, and force the admins to clear the banlist lol.

SUPPOSED to leave the server after dieing
That counts.
griefers like AVO tend to hit them
Thats part of life, no refund for dieing to some jerk. I suppose hacked clients WOULD be a consern though.
Would need to track cheaters and keep them banned for the next iterations (next iterations being new map seed and clear banlist)

I would appreciate it if you read my whole post before making such assumptions. (I even clarified this in the original post, and yes, it was there before I edited it!)
