Interstate

Hello everyone! I'm going to hopefully be working on a new project soon once the new map arrives. The project will be based off of SirCrest's interstates.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNXpjFwi ... ideo_title
I want to make one of these on the way to either New Metro, or lizrd and mineturtle's B.A.C. obviously it is very resource intensive. I have been iron mining as much as possible, but its going to take a lot to get it off the ground. If anyone has extra iron I could buy be sure to let me know. Also it is impossible for a cart to go that far without boost rails, unless we get minecart mania back. If not I am also buying gold.
Also the track will not stop at New Metro or the B.A.C., but rather be my ongoing projet to see how long I can make one in survival.

Solution to iron problems: EATS roads

Glass panes makes them much more space efficient as well

Iron is not a problem. Hopefully gold won't be either if we can find a mod for it

Eats is faster though D:

It uses 3x more sand than rails use iron, but sand is easy to quickly acquire
and they both use wood, EATS uses 4 planks per 3 blocks, rails use 1.5 planks per 3 blocks so i guess you save a little bit of wood

And it's awesome.

What is EATS

and what is B.A.C?

If you have seen Opal in Dynamap, you may notice that there are tracks to Botra and Zugguburgh, these have two tracks, one for each direction!

Is your metro going via the Nether? If its on land, please let me know and I will help you guys out.

Regarding Metros rebirth, its location would be best North or south of spawn :)

Lol i pleasely (is that even a word? lol) request NOT to make an insanely long railroad like in the youtube video, this would be pretty meaningless and consume ALOT of disk space.

I just realized, 3x more sand was not accurate since it's not 1 iron ingot per rail, it's 3/8 of an ingot per block. So it'd actually be 3:3/8. But EATS are still cooler.

(Seeing that cobblestone made me SO nostalgic D:)

EDIT: I forgot to mention that that design is INCREDIBLY UNNECESSARILY big. You can make it 3 wide now thanks to glass panes/iron bars/1.9 fences. Ladders are also unnecessary, you can place transparent blocks in the middle or sides such as slabs, glass blocks, leaves, etc. Also you don't need signs to hold the water, you can use pressure plates as well.

.
eats roads take like 20 minutes to make a 20 block thing. Also if you don't want me to do this in your server I won't @max

It barely takes any time to make new EATS roads with glass panes. >.>

It takes a lot longer than placing rails

It takes much longer to re-acquire the iron needed for rails. Also, EATS uses boats which are made of wood whereas rails use carts which are also made of IRON.

Iron armor or tools are much better than tracks, especially since you have to power the tracks.

I'm sure a sexy admin *cough* will be happy to supply rails, so long as it looks nice

You have to kill trees to use boats, where as iron is not living. Also there is an infinite number of things that can go wrong with EATS, and it takes more effort. It will get broken in almost every update.

as far as I can tell, EATS is something like a waterroad? sorry if im wrong. Anyway, even though we don't want a road leading to nowhere, I'm hoping we can have a comprehensible road system which leads to every major construction in opal. Since warps are gone, it should be easier to travel using legit means. :)

Yeah, I'm still hoping for the autominecart mod back, even if the rail only goes to New Metro. EATS is indeed a water road.

Wloll, all new tracks are fitted with powered rail pieces now, so no need for a mod anymore.
