You can protect a chest using signs now, i will disable LWC soon.
So make sure IF you use LWC, that you are gonna use above method.
You can do various things more:

Protection Sign: Enabled
Free Sign: Disabled
Disposal Sign: Enabled
Healing Sign: Restricted Everybody can use them, but only admins can create them.
Trade Sign: Disabled
Buy Sign: Disabled
Sell Sign: Disabled

Admins can ofcourse use all signs, but we aren't using an economy mod or anything.
If for some reason you think i should enable more signs let me know here.

Hello!

I think this is good.
But I think:
- No-one should be allowed to use the 'free' sign, to keep this server a bit of RP/trade stylish.
- Each city can has a Healing Sign, this can be spawned by admins. Or it can be activated for free use. I'd love to be able to use those in the ZGA (http://www.maxloader.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=457)

also there's a few "hospitals" that those signs would work well in. if you choose to allow admins to put them there.

I agree, the free signs are a no-go.
But healing signs may come in handy in certain places.

True. So the question is: All players may use them (which will kill the foodmarket), or just admins (which can be annoying for them, because they have to make lots of, have to decide when it's allowed and when not)?
I think hospitals and arena's should be able to have them, built by admins. What do others think?

I disagree that this will be annoying, as we will not be placing a lot of them. As Max said they will be handy in certain places. Perhaps towns should keep the hospital system with food, and there could be the occasional heal sing in, say high traffic areas such as spawn. This could help new players get themselves settled in the game, while preventing heal spamming. Also, if it was found that the signs were being abused, they could be easily removed as long as we keep them to a minimum.

How long before the inevitable "oops, I just put a stack of gold and 3 diamonds in the disposal chest instead of the normal chest?" ;)

I think it would be a nice feature if the disposal chest had a delay on it, so if you accidentally dropped gold instead of your gravel, you would have a 1-5 minute window to retrieve the item.

Also... is there any reason why we wouldn't want to create a trading post (either at Spawn or in towns) where people could trade Iron for Gold, Gold for Diamonds, etc? That is actually one feature I'd like to see implemented.

Will the protection thing really work, since you can just break the block below the sign and that will break the sign, and therefore ruin the protection? You would have to get admins to protect the region.

I haven't tested this properly so I dont know if this is a problem.

*EDIT*

Me and Mlock tested this, and its correct. Unless the block the sign is on is region protected, anyone can break it, thus rendering the protection useless (unless people get admins to region protect everytime)

Err ok, but i can change that!

*Edit* I changed it, signs should be properly protected now.

Back to the Healing signs, I think that at random places in the world, healing shrines should be placed, with water, flowers, trees, the works, with a healing sign in the middle. It would be fun to have adventures to locate these hidden tresures. :)

probably best just to leave it as a rare case by case situation where an admin can choose to put one somewhere if he thinks it's a good place for it.

I don't want to see healing signs, people already miss use /back and having a healing sign at spawn will just get people doing /spawn then /back.

Pointless to me.

Just don't put a healing chest at spawn then :). Just put them in hospitals.

Then a few of us can go on a very long adventure, possibly die a few times along the way, find it, celebrate finding it for a few seconds, and then never go back again because it's easier to get pork ;) sounds like fun!

chest protection sign doesn't actually protect the chests. someone opened one of my protected chests and took something out in front of me to prove it.

I changed something in the config file, so it uses sql instead of the buggy sql-lite format.
It will apply after the reboot, see how it works out!
