Hello! This is a rather awesome mod for SMP that I was looking at:

Not sure wether you would want it in the server because adding mods is hard, and such. But I think its a pretty good mod that you might want to take a look at.

Its possible for multiplayer, however it seems like a hugely complicated mod and im not sure if everybody would like it.

I think it would be cool. It could add a new way of travel, and you can get a scenic view of awesome things people have built. The Biplane isn't even that complicated. I would like it if anyone else would want it.

Seems rather amuseing. Looks like we may need to keep to biplane only or we're begging players to blow things up

Personally, I like the server's vanilla feel of Minecraft, so I would prefer not having the mod.

Yes, I know warps and bukkit aren't vanilla (I sometimes run my own server), but for such a large world the warps are imperative and bukkit is useful while retaining a vanilla feel as well.

I'm not sure how much a poll will help but I'll vote I guess. I agree with pest it would have to be bi-plane only if we did do it. but it would be fun to fly around a bit. but if it's too much of a pain to install I change my vote to no. cause I know complicated mods suck to install on single player and I don't even want to know how bad it is for multiplayer.

I was just thinking the other day that I wanted to build an airport with runway, hangar, and control tower. This would be pretty awesome, but I guess my two concerns would be:

• How much would this mod slow down the server? Too much lag, and it's not worth it.
• How difficult will it be to install, maintain, and will it add too much difficulty to updating to new versions of Mincraft?

If both of these concerns are minor enough, I think adding air travel would be awesome. No bombs though.

I could build small runways in each town, and you could make an airport near spawn assuming we got this. Also, f you do install it, I think the Biplane and Camel would be fine. I forget i\f the camel one has bullets, but it wouldn't be that bad. We could also have little dogfights for fun, it would be cool!

are planes like minecarts where you can pick them up and take them with you? or like boats where you try to pick them up and they break and ruin your day?

The way i see it everyone on this server has respect for other people's things, just like we don't go around blowing peoples stuff up with TNT, i don't think people would go around bombing things (how ever tempting it would be) that is not theirs. But common it would be sweet to fly around and be able to see everything thats going up around the server. And if and when whitelisting opens then thats what roll back and ban are for.

I also think planes would be a cool thing to add. We have a lot of awesome buildings and town on the server and by adding planes it would add another dimension to viewing these things. It says in the mod that you can disable bullets and bombs, so you could have all the planes but with no bombs (or bullets, but I think having bullets at least would could be fun as Scope said) or even just the biplane would be good.

I am going to discuss this with the fellow admins, if they also think its cool to have (with restrictions) i will add it with the next server update.

I know this would either take a lot or is impossible, but what if new players can only use the biplane, then as they get trusted more, they can get a plane with bullets, then when everybody trusts them, like wloll or jakal, they can use bombs. I don't even see much of a use for bombs though.

But hey, at every update other mods die out and won't get moved so its pretty clean.

I don't think bomb planes are a good idea, not even for admins.
Just think how fast the landscape will fuck up, looking like some post-apocalyptic terrain.

I'd also like to put in my vote for no flying mod. I agree that the vanilla feel of the server is why I play on it.

Unfortunately the planes mod is not compatible with craftbukkit.
Adding the files to the craftbukkit.jar crashes the whole thing so... i hope they release a bukkit version later.
