just a curiosity question; i was wondering what the maxloader stance is on sand generators (many people consider them to be cheating)
and yes i built one
and yes i built one

Sorry Midevele1, I treated the glitch at the time as "duping" as it took advantage of server lagging.Midevele1 wrote:I made one a while back and sooneey made me take it down and almost banned me for cheating
It's okay, I have no quarrel with you! I was just like "Wait a minute!?!".Sooneey wrote:Sorry Midevele1, I treated the glitch at the time as "duping" as it took advantage of server lagging.Midevele1 wrote:I made one a while back and sooneey made me take it down and almost banned me for cheating
However if you do it now (or don't), I may just come along vanished and throw snowballs at you. Heads up.
It's a row of 9 duplicators running at the speed of around a 4-clock i think. there's a minecart that goes back and forth so there is at most 12 or so sand drops on the floor while it's being used properly. of course if you decided to turn it on and not collect the sand with the minecart...Pestilencemage wrote:Please ensure proper precautions to prevent server problems with sand/gravel generators.
Too many items can cause problems.
A: You dont need to dupe sand/gravel in THAT big an ammount, dont make like 30+ blocks dupe each cycle.
B: Suggest you put a fence over lava or cacti to ensure duped items are destroyed if noone is there to pick it up.
C: Even better yet, make the system activate for abit via button or stone plate rather then lever so you know it will not be left on.
Simple precautions can ensure safety with your generator.
I dont consiter them cheating exactly (certainly not the cobble/stone generators as these are not at all a bug or glitch)
If you DO dupe sand/gravel, do so responably.
Simple solution: Make the drops flow over to an underground fence (surrounded by transparent blocks like glass or half-slabs so it does not link to them. You should be able to walk on that fence without jumping, but the drops will fall down if there is noone to collect them. Put lava or a cacti under that fence so drop that fall if someone turns it on and leaves... are destroyed. NOW your generator is not a potential problem (or, more accurately: can only become one by malicious intent rather then ignorant neglect)LumpyCustard7 wrote:It's a row of 9 duplicators running at the speed of around a 4-clock i think. there's a minecart that goes back and forth so there is at most 12 or so sand drops on the floor while it's being used properly. of course if you decided to turn it on and not collect the sand with the minecart...
The cart means i can sit with my crafting menu open and make sandstone without having to walk and collect the sandPestilencemage wrote:Simple solution: Make the drops flow over to an underground fence (surrounded by transparent blocks like glass or half-slabs so it does not link to them. Unless you really need that minecart carting you around to collect them for some reason...
