Just a thought. Browsing around various forum posts on the big minecraft forums, I note that some servers are making use of a ram drive to improve performance for larger numbers of players.
Is this something that our server already has?
Is it something that is worth testing (I don't know what the footprint of the save is on this server)?
I ask because 8gb is lots of ram, and it's very possible that the server will run just as well with less and of course streaming from a ram drive will be much faster than from a traditional hdd.
Cheers,
Jake

Re: Server configuration
Nice of you to think of a solution, but i am 100% sure the bottleneck on my server regarding the player cap is my internet upload speed (1 Mbit)
When i move out of my parents house i will subscribe to a better internet connection (10Mbit up and 120Mbit down) so i can easily host 32 players (i think)
