bug help!

Hey, its donwhittam from the server. I think its a bug. I open up minecraft as normal, then press login. It logs in then the screen goes black and stays like that. So i cant even get to the main menu. This started when i put stuff into my minecraft.jar folder. Ive deleted everything and re-downloaded minecraft, but it still does it. So, 1.does anyone else have this problem, or know what it is. 2.Does anyone know how to fix it. Thanks guys. -don

when you put stuff into minecraft.jar you have to delete the meta-inf folder. did you do that? Also that sometimes happens when you have two mods that aren't compatible so check and make sure that isn't the case if you're installing more than one mod.

I tried to install moloader, turbomodelthingy, and planesV6 mod. So how do I fix this then? And yes, I did delete the meta.inf folder

It looks to me like V6 is the SMP mod, which is great if you have a server of your own, but for single player you need V9. http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic ... 2&t=198188 that's the link to where I found it.
Here's the install instructions for it:
Client

1. Download & Install Risugami's ModLoader viewtopic.php?t=80246
2. Download & Install SDK's ModLoaderMp (Guns, utils etc optional) viewtopic.php?f=25&t=92206
3. Download & Install GaryCXJk's Turbo Model Thingy viewtopic.php?f=25&t=159473
4. (Optional)Download & Install Risugami's AudioMod viewtopic.php?t=80246
5. Download Planes v9 from here
6. Add the contents of the "jar files" folder to the minecraft.jar
7. Add the contents of the "resource files" to the resources folder
8. Drag planes.txt and plane.properties into the .minecraft folder
9. Delete META-INF folder, if you didn't already
10. Play!

Make sure you back up your .minecraft folder before you start modding and I recommend testing to make sure you don't get the black screen after you install each mod. It looks like not all the files go into the .jar file either so pay close attention to which files go where. Looks like a pretty complex mod to install, good luck

Thanks, but do i have to delete the planes v6 mod from minecraft.jar?

That's the hard way to do it. you can force an update if you want version 1.5, or if you want to stick with 1.4 you'll probably have to download a 1.4 .minecraft folder from somewhere. Sooneey might have one up on his downgrade tutorial thread. he's usually pretty good about supplying the proper files for a downgrade.

Yeah Der_Jakal has said it better than I could. Also, credit to maxloader I made the tutorial but he updated it massively, he beats me too it every time.

So what do i do? I still have planes v6 in my minecraft.jar folder. And, i cant update if it wont even loadup the main menu can I?

is that planes mod even compatible with 1.5 ?
probably not, so you will have to choose.

It's sooneey's downgrade tutorial, he made it pretty easy to follow. only difference is because you can't open minecraft you'll have to navigate to your .minecraft folder manualy which I hope you know how to do if you're modding your game.
Follow sooneey's instructions and replace your .minecraft folder with a shiny brand new one from 1.4 if you still want to install the plane mod. I'd upload mine for you to use but it's already modded with something else that would get in your way. :/
